How to get to Praia do Porto

Praia do Porto is the easiest to reach: by car, bus or on foot from Vila dos Remédios. The bus costs R$ 5 and links the Porto to Sueste.

This is where boats, speedboats and canoes depart. You'll probably pass through it on the boat trip or the Hawaiian canoe.

Snorkeling on the Eleani Stathatos wreck

The hull of the Greek ship Eleani Stathatos, sunk in 1929, lies a few meters from the sand. With the sea usually calm, it's the easiest snorkeling for kids and beginners.

Bring your own mask and snorkel or rent them at the dive shops on the beach.

A discovery dive from the beach, near the wreck, is cheaper than a boat dive.

Surfing at Porto: the Abras left

For most of the year Porto has calm water. With a big north swell, between November and March, a left known as Abras breaks there over a rock and sand bottom, for intermediate to advanced surfers.

On those days, save snorkeling at the shipwreck for when it is calm. Learn more in the guide to surfing in Fernando de Noronha.

With kids and babies

A calm sea, shade and facilities make the Porto one of the best beaches for families. It's one of the few places on the island where a stroller works.

Itineraries often use the Porto on the afternoon you arrive or on the day you leave, with snorkeling on the wreck and some rest.

It's also a good base for whoever stays on the beach while another part of the group goes diving.

Where to eat and what to see nearby

At the Porto you'll find Mergulhão, for seafood, and Tia Regina, with set meals. The Museu do Tubarão, nearby, also has a restaurant.

The Porto isn't the best sunset spot. For that, head to Praia da Conceição or Forte do Boldró.
