Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha
Neighborhoods, price ranges and pousadas by style: from a room in a family home to a luxury pousada with sea views.
The island is small: everything is at most 15 minutes away by car
There are no beachfront hotels in Noronha: the beaches are protected. The choice is between being close to the bustle of the Vila or in quieter neighborhoods. Almost all accommodations are pousadas or houses.
Vila dos Remédios
The historic center, with restaurants, bars, church and fort. Walking distance to Praia do Cachorro and Conceição. Busier at night.
Floresta Nova and Floresta Velha
On the other side of the BR, across from the Vila. Lots of well-priced family-run pousadas, a 10-minute walk from the little town center.
Vila do Trinta and Vila dos Três Paus
Residential neighborhoods, with markets and a pharmacy. Simple pousadas and a few mid-range ones; bus at the door.
Boldró
Close to Projeto Tamar, the sunset viewpoint and the road to Cacimba and Sancho. Quiet and well located if you have a buggy or plan to surf Cacimba and Boldró.
Sueste
The farthest from the Vila, with the most sophisticated pousadas and views over the Mar de Fora. Requires a car or taxi for everything.
Porto and Vila do DPL
Close to Porto de Santo Antônio, the Museu do Tubarão and the boat departures. Convenient for divers.

Seven questions to ask the pousada
- Is the airport transfer included both ways?
- Is breakfast included? Eating out is expensive on the island.
- Is there air conditioning and hot water? Noronha is hot all year round.
- How far is it on foot to the Vila and to the nearest beach?
- Does the pousada help book tours and have partnerships with agencies?
- Is there a kitchen or minibar to store water and snacks?
- What is the cancellation policy if a flight is cancelled due to bad weather?
Booking and payment
Pousadas work with booking websites and with direct contact, often with a discount for payment via Pix. In high season and at New Year's the best ones sell out six months to a year in advance.
Renting an entire house is also common, especially for groups, but check that the house is registered with the island's Administration.
