Praia do Boldró

Praia do Boldró is wide, little visited and has natural pools at low tide. Just above it is Forte do Boldró, the most famous sunset in Noronha.

How to get to Praia do Boldró

Boldró is on the Mar de Dentro, near Projeto Tamar. You go down to the sand by a staircase from the viewpoint.

By bus, the fare is R$ 5 and you walk for 10 to 15 minutes. Since it runs every 30 to 45 minutes, a taxi or car gives you more freedom.

Pools and snorkeling at low tide

At low tide natural pools form, good for some easy snorkeling. Morning is the best time for the beach.

Praia do Boldró doesn't require the Park ticket. There are small beach stalls and little shade, so bring a beach umbrella, water and a UV shirt.

With a baby, this beach is among the most suitable on the island. Go early and avoid the sun between 10am and 3pm.

Surfing at Boldró

From November to March, with a north swell, Boldró has a fast, hollow wave that breaks over shallow coral and rock, usually best at low tide. It is a break for experienced surfers, with a real risk of getting cut on the bottom.

Outside those days, the sea goes back to being all about natural pools. Compare the breaks in the guide to surfing in Fernando de Noronha.

Sunset at Forte do Boldró

Just above is Forte do Boldró, with the sun setting and Dois Irmãos in the background. It's free and considered the most beautiful on the island.

Arrive 40 minutes early to get a spot. The best color usually comes 10 to 15 minutes after the sun disappears, so don't leave early.

A complete end of the day in Boldró

Combine the beach, sunset at the fort and, at night, the daily Projeto Tamar talk at 8pm. It's free and great with kids.

At low tide, if you like walking, you can continue along the sand to the Bode, Quixabinha and Americano beaches.
