How to get to Praia do Meio

Praia do Meio is about a 15-minute walk from Praça Flamboyant. You go down from Bar do Meio or walk over from Praia da Conceição.

It's small, with rocks, and is on the Mar de Dentro, near Vila dos Remédios. No Park ticket needed.

Low tide and the Morro de Fora pool

At low tide natural pools appear, including the little Morro de Fora pool. Check the tide table before you go.

The crossing to Morro de Fora requires attention to the tide. Hiring a local guide is the safest way to do this stretch.

Bar do Meio and sunset

Bar do Meio sits on the rocky shore, with Mediterranean cuisine. It's one of the most sought-after sunset spots and the most romantic on the island.

After 6pm there is a R$ 30 cover charge. To get a table with a view, make a reservation.

The sun often doesn't touch the sea because of clouds on the horizon. Wait 10 to 15 minutes after it disappears: the color usually gets better.

With kids and what to combine

With kids and babies, Praia do Meio works well at low tide. There are few beach stalls and little shade, so bring a beach umbrella and water.

The nicest plan is on foot: Praia do Cachorro, Meio and Conceição in the same afternoon, ending with the sunset.
