Buraco da Raquel
Buraco da Raquel is a rock formation in Noronha famous for its sunrise. It is a place to look at and photograph, not to swim.
How to get to Buraco da Raquel
Buraco da Raquel is at the end of the little road to the Museu do Tubarão, near the Porto de Santo Antônio. On the Premium Guide's mental map, it appears in the Mar de Fora, next to Air France.
If you are staying in the Vila, it is a short trip. From other areas, go by taxi or car. See the location on the Noronha map.
Buraco da Raquel is not on the official list of Park areas that require a ticket. Check on the island in case anything has changed.
Sunrise
It is the most famous spot on the island to watch the sunrise. Arrive before daybreak, with a flashlight and sturdy shoes.
This is a place for contemplation. Swimming is prohibited there, so don't go into the sea.
If you want to see the day break another way, the Hawaiian outrigger canoe leaves the Porto around 5am and often crosses paths with dolphins and turtles.
Ilha Tour and what to combine
The Ilha Tour usually stops at Buraco da Raquel, between the Mar de Fora beaches and the sunset at Boldró. See the itinerary in Ilha Tour.
On your own, pair the sunrise with a morning at the Porto. The Museu do Tubarão is on the way and Praia do Porto has easy snorkeling at the shipwreck.
With children
You can go with children, but watch out for the rocks and stay away from the water. Waking up very early is tiring, so keep the afternoon free to rest.
With a baby, only if they already wake up early. Bring a baby carrier, a light jacket and water.
