Baía dos Golfinhos
Baía dos Golfinhos is the cove where spinner dolphins rest in Noronha. You watch from the viewpoint, up high, because swimming is prohibited.
How to get to Baía dos Golfinhos
Access to the Baía dos Golfinhos viewpoint starts at the Golfinho-Sancho PIC, where you validate your Park ticket. It's about 1 km along a boardwalk, with no booking.
From the viewpoint, a trail of about 1.1 km connects to Baía do Sancho. The boardwalk also continues to the Sancho and Dois Irmãos viewpoints.
Best time to see the dolphins
The spinner dolphins usually enter the bay at dawn to rest. The lookout opens at 6:30am; the best time is right at opening, until about 8am.
They are often there, but not guaranteed. Bring binoculars: the animals stay far away and you're looking from above.
At certain times there are researchers at the observation point.
Rules: watch only
Swimming is prohibited in Baía dos Golfinhos and any interaction with the animals is banned. The bay is a resting area and needs quiet.
Another way to see the dolphins is from the sea. The shared boat trip through the Mar de Dentro passes by the bay, and the sunrise Hawaiian outrigger canoe often crosses paths with them. Compare the options in boat trip.
With kids and what to combine
The boardwalk is easy and good for children. With a baby, a baby carrier works better than a stroller.
A classic morning combines the viewpoint at dawn, the Sancho and Dois Irmãos viewpoints and the descent to Sancho at 8am, during the staircase's open window. That is what we suggest for the last day of the 3-day itinerary, in itineraries.
