How to book Praia da Atalaia

A visit to Praia da Atalaia requires booking, and the daily spots go fast. First buy the Park ticket; it unlocks the booking.

If you bought the ticket online, you book online. You can also book at the Visitor Center, from 8am to 7pm. On some days of the month certain trails are reserved for residents.

Book on the same day you buy the park ticket. The details are in fees and tickets.

Reopening in 2026

The pool was closed to snorkeling from June 2025 to January 2026 due to sedimentation and has reopened. Even so, check the status on the Park's website before planning your itinerary.

The group time depends on the tide, which changes every day. Going at high tide is a common mistake.

Rules in the pool

  • Life vest mandatory.
  • Sunscreen prohibited. Wear a long-sleeved UV shirt.
  • Fins prohibited in the natural pools.
  • Don't touch the bottom, the coral or the animals.
  • 30 minutes in the water, with monitors.

The rules are strict because the pool is shallow and fragile. Bring your own mask and snorkel.

With kids and what to combine

Kids can go, but confirm the rules when you book. With a baby, it's not recommended: there's a trail, strong sun and no shade at all.

Atalaia is on the Mar de Fora, near Baía do Sueste and Praia do Leão, which round off the afternoon nicely. In the 7-day itinerary of the Premium Guide, the booked Atalaia visit is in the morning and Sueste and Leão in the afternoon.
